Change a Child's Story

With your help, we will be in a stronger position in 2022 to advance our mission of helping the children we serve by giving them the opportunity to thrive in a safe, permanent and loving home.

The effects of abuse or neglect can have far-reaching and long-lasting consequences, and some youth in foster care struggle while others thrive. A key difference is resilience—the ability to adapt and recover after a traumatic event. Resilience can be learned and cultivated. Having a caring adult to rely on is a key component to building resilience. For many children and youth, their Clatsop CASA volunteer is that person.

Clatsop CASA volunteers support children and youth as they grow. Their commitment, vigilance and persistence can offer hope where there may have been little before. Clatsop CASA volunteers advocate for services to help parents and families, as well as the child, address the challenges they face. As a partner, they can support families in developing the skills they need to provide the best possible family environment and work toward reunification.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a caring, consistent adult for a child who is experiencing the loneliness and uncertainty of foster care this holiday season. With a volunteer dedicated to their case, Clatsop County’s most vulnerable children will have an adult by their side to speak up for their best interests and to help them find the road home, wherever it lies. With your support, more children in Clatsop County can thrive in 2022.
